Thermage TF-2 Coupling Fluid
Thermage TF-2 Coupling Fluid is an electrically conductive viscous liquid that ensures consistent electrical contact between the Thermage treatment tip used during a Thermage CPT treatment. The coupling fluid is usually applied generously onto the surface of the skin at the treatment area before the treatment tip that transmits radiofrequency energy is placed onto the skin. This viscous liquid is essential to prevent uneven heat distribution. It is an essential part of treatment with Thermage CPT, and its use is crucial for the best outcomes in these treatments. Thermage Coupling Fluid can be supplied in 30ml or 60ml bottles. Each bottle of this fluid is for a single use only.
What is Thermage TF-2 Coupling Fluid Formulated to Do?
As mentioned above, Thermage TF-2 Coupling Fluid ensures consistent electrical contact between the skin and the Thermage treatment tip used in a Thermage CPT procedure. It can be applied almost anywhere on the body without significant adverse effects.
Thermage TF-2 Coupling Fluid is supplied by Pharmaceutical Innovations Inc., which is based in New Jersey, United States.

What Else You Need to Know
What side effects can it cause?
No serious side effects are expected from the use of the Thermage TF-2 Coupling Fluid alone unless its use is associated with severe allergic reactions. In this case, patients should be told of the possibility and asked if they ever had any severe allergic reactions to any of the components in the Coupling Fluid. However, side effects such as redness, pain, and swelling can be expected after treatment with the Thermage CPT system; these reactions occur mostly due to the heat energy released into the skin. Other side effects from treatment with the Thermage CPT system include surface irregularities, altered skin sensation, and possibly burn injuries at the treatment site, although these effects are much rarer than the aforementioned ones.
Which skin type is it good for?
Thermage TF-2 Coupling Fluid is suitable for use on all skin types.
What is it made without?
Thermage TF-2 Coupling Fluid does not contain any steroids, anti-inflammatory drugs, antibiotics, or any fragrances.

Are there different Thermage Coupling Fluids?
There is only one type of Thermage Coupling Fluid; it just comes in different sizes. Thermage TF-2 Coupling Fluid comes in 30ml bottles, but there is Thermage TF-2 -60 Coupling Fluid, which is essentially the same product but just supplied in 60ml bottles instead.
Thermage TF-2 Coupling Fluid is intended only for use with the Thermage CPT system. This fluid must not be shared between patients, and it must not be reused. Do not use a bottle of Thermage TF-2 Coupling Fluid if the bottle is damaged or opened. Remember to clean the treatment area with isopropyl alcohol. Apply the temporary grid system from a Thermage Skin Marking Paper onto the skin while it is still damp. The membrane on the treatment tip being used for the treatment procedure must remain intact throughout said procedure. Thermage TF-2 Coupling Fluid is meant to be used before the treatment starts, so spread a generous amount of the fluid over the treatment area. Reapply it as needed to maintain a wet treatment area. Try to maintain even pressure onto the treatment tip as you press it against the skin. Multiple low energy passes are frequently advocated for Thermage CPT treatment. You may opt for two single passes that are followed by three to five vector passes in the direction that skin tightening is desired, or you can use one super pass, which is where one row of squares and then one row of circles on the grid are treated in an alternating manner. The latter is recommended for Thermage CPT. The skin surface temperature should be sufficiently cooled before moving onto the next pass. End treatment when skin tightening can be observed or felt.
Thermage TF-2 Coupling Fluid contains cadmium, lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl, polybrominated diphenyl ether. It is a non-hazardous, odorless, non-flammable, non-carcinogenic, and light-blue viscous fluid. Personal protection equipment is not required when handling the Thermage TF-2 Coupling Fluid.
