Juvederm Ultra Plus XC Product Specifications
Juvederm Ultra Plus XC is a filler formulated with highly cross-linked hyaluronic acid. It is mainly indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe folds and wrinkles. The dermal filler is also incorporated with lidocaine for a comfortable, painless injection. The formulation is supplied in sterile, non-pyrogenic syringes, and comes with 27G needles and a product information leaflet. This filler has been approved by the FDA.
What Juvederm Ultra Plus XC is formulated to do
Fortified with highly cross-linked hyaluronic acid, Juvederm Ultra Plus XC effectively decreases the look of wrinkles around the mouth and nose. Apart from filling wrinkles and folds, hyaluronic acid also helps to enhance the facial volume in sunken areas. After just 1 treatment, skin appears dramatically smoother.
The gel is also formulated with lidocaine, an anesthetic that acts locally to reduce discomfort and pain at the injection site. Thanks to the anesthetic effects of lidocaine, injection is virtually painless.
Juvederm Ultra Plus XC is the perfect choice for aging skin with moderate-to-severe wrinkles and folds.

What else you need to know
As with other injectables, Juvederm Ultra Plus XC may result in mild side effects.
While these side effects are common, they are mostly self-limiting and will resolve themselves within a week. The injectable filler is associated with a risk of infection. This is by no means an exhaustive list of all the possible side effects of the filler. Patients may experience adverse effects that are not in this list.
Formulated with safe yet efficacious ingredients, Juvederm Ultra Plus XC has been approved by the FDA to treat facial folds and wrinkles.
A similar formulation is also available as Juvederm Ultra XC, which is used to treat moderate lines. Apart from treating wrinkles and folds, Ultra XC and Ultra Plus XC can help to augment lips for the perfect pout.
- Juvederm is contraindicated in patients who are allergic to hyaluronic acid, gram-positive bacterial proteins or lidocaine. Avoid using Juvederm Ultra Plus XC if patients have previously experienced anaphylaxis. Use the filler cautiously if patients are on immunosuppressive drugs.
- The injectable is designed for single-use only. Do not reuse. Dispose of the syringe and needle after use. Do not resterilize them.
- The injection should only be carried out by qualified medical professionals. Self-administration may result in serious, permanent complications. For example, accidental injection into blood vessels may result in permanent scarring, blindness, vision abnormalities, or stroke.
- After treatment, it is advisable to avoid excessive exposure to heat or sunlight. If swelling occurs, apply an ice pack to the affected area for symptomatic relief.
Use this filler to correct medium to deep lines and wrinkles, such as nasolabial folds, and to add volume to the lips.Composition
This injectable contains 3mg of non-animal hyaluronic acid that is highly cross-linked. Commonly found in the body, hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide made up of disaccharide units of N-acetyl-D-glucosamine and D-glucuronic acid. It swells up when in contact with water, thereby helping to plump the skin and fill wrinkles and folds.
In addition, the dermal injection is infused with 3mg of lidocaine (also known as lignocaine). Functioning as a local anesthetic, lidocaine helps relieve injection-related pain for a comfortable treatment experience.
The formulation also contains a phosphate buffer of pH7.2.

Duration of effect
Thanks to its larger particle size, Juvederm Ultra Plus XC can typically last for up to 12 months. As the effects are temporary, patients need to repeat the treatment to maintain the results.
Store Juvederm Ultra Plus XC at room temperature. Ideally, it should be kept at a temperature of less than 77°F or 25°C. Do not freeze the injectable.
Expiry (shelf life)
Check the expiry date before use. Do not use if the filler has expired. Expired injectables may have lost their sterility.
Proper storage helps to extend the shelf life of the filler. Conversely, failure to comply with the storage instructions may result in premature degradation of the active ingredients, rendering the gel unusable before its expiry date.
