What does Restylane manufacture?

Over the last 20 years, the Restylane product range has been broadened and diversified to meet the ever-growing demand of injectable fillers.

Made up of three groups, fillers, skinboosters, and skincare, these products aim to target various skin issues and combat signs of aging. Doctors use the cosmetic fillers, such as SubQ and Perlane, to fill in skin depressions and add volume to the face and lips. The skinboosters, including Skinboosters Vital, are injectable fillers that aim to rejuvenate the skin. As well, the skincare products hydrate and nourish the skin. These products work to keep the skin healthy and youthful looking.

Bestselling products worldwide

Some of the bestselling products of Restylane family are Restylane, Defyne, Refyne, and Lyft with Lidocaine. Treatments are chosen based on the specific needs of patients.

To date, millions of Restylane treatments have been administered to patients worldwide. These best-selling products have been well-received by many clients, establishing them as one of the most trusted aesthetic brands.

How long has Restylane been around?

The line was launched by Q-Med AB in 1996. Q-Med, a medical device company based in Uppsala, Sweden, was established in 1987. As a subsidiary of Galderma S.A., Q-Med has been actively selling, manufacturing, marketing and developing medical implants for aesthetic purpose. Through authorized distributors and subsidiaries, its highly effective products are available for sale worldwide.

The patented technology is utilized in the production of stabilized hyaluronic acid of non-animal origin, which is a key ingredient in most Q-Med products.

What are Restylane products used for and how do they work?

The dermal fillers in the collection are used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and folds (e.g. nasolabial folds) on the face. Additionally, they can be used to correct laugh lines (marionette lines). Some of the fillers are also indicated for correcting lip shape and volume.

The non-animal hyaluronic acid gives the fillers the ability to mimic the properties of natural hyaluronic acid found in the, thus adding volume to and restoring the hydration of the skin. As well, the skincare line works to cleanse and hydrate the skin to keep it looking fresh and bright.

Active ingredients

Most of the products contain specially-formulated hyaluronic acid that is able to mimic the properties of naturally-occurring hyaluronic acid in the body. Hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide present in tissues such as in cartilage and skin. It attracts moisture, so the skin becomes hydrated and smooth. Some products from the Restylane family contain Lidocaine (e.g. Lyft with Lidocaine), which helps relieve pain and discomfort during the procedure. The skincare line utilizes various ingredients to boost skin health.
